The Carroll Branded Fuels Unsung Heroes Award is given annually at the Station Dealer's Banquet to the station employee or group of employees who go above and beyond the call of duty each and every day as they perform their daily work. The award now serves to honor the memory of its first recipient, Dave Meadows, who passed away in 2007.

Dave truly exemplified everything that it means to be an Unsung Hero, so it is fitting that he was our very first Unsung Hero Award recipient in 2005. Dave worked at Old Greenbelt Citgo for over 30 years before succumbing to cancer in 2007. He ran every aspect of the station's daily operations from running the service bays to managing employees to operating the cash register; he was the station dealer's right-hand man. For years, Dave put in 12 hour days at the station, and he loved every aspect of his work. As a longstanding member of the surrounding community, Dave personally knew just about every customer who visited Old Greenmount Citgo, and all of the customers loved him. Dave was the kind of man who would do whatever was needed of him, even if it meant fixing a stranded customer's flat tire in the middle of winter, he always went above and beyond the call of duty. Even after he had surgery to treat his cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy treatments, Dave still came to work each day with the same enthusiasm he had for 30 years. Dave Meadows will always be missed and remembered as a true Unsung Hero, and we honor his memory each year as we present the award to a new recipient.
